About
Expert tutoring by an experienced English tutor
Over a career spanning over 30 years, I worked in a variety of roles in secondary schools in the Bath and Bristol areas including Head of English and Head of Year. In that time, I acquired considerable experience teaching English across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Since September 2021, I have been working exclusively as a tutor with individuals and small groups. I have found tutoring students to be extremely rewarding and enjoyable. As it is possible to get to know my students’ skills and needs in depth, I have been able to design lessons and activities to address their individual aims. I believe it is very important to create a positive, encouraging and welcoming environment in order to build up students’ confidence.

My approach
As a tutor, I plan and deliver bespoke English lessons that are tailored to the needs of each student. I aim to help students to develop their skills and reach their targets. I take a positive and encouraging approach so that students feel confident as they work towards their examinations.
